Now it’s Monday and nothing’s changed. I like my job but sometimes it just gets in the way… especially when I’m feeling excited and inspired to take on a new tack project.
Ah well, such is life!

I am just getting into tack making. I was wondering if you used a pounce set to do the sticking? And what about the holes?

I used a pounce wheel for the stitchmarking on the pieces. I’m so happy I bought one… it makes stitchmarking so much easier! (and neater!)
The holes in the billets were punched with a mechanical pencil, thanks to a tip here: http://braymere.blogspot.com/2008/10/tack-tips-punching-holes.html

And the other holes were cut with an exacto knife. 🙂 Hope this helps!

Awesome! Thanks so much! I am just starting to make tack, so right now I am living by Jennifers website but thought it would be interesting to see how others did it, too! I still need to buy the pounce wheel, but i did get mechanical pencils and a mallet!

Aahh, so that’s how one makes such even stitchmarks! Thank you for explaining. I lately tried it freehand on a halter and it did look very bad.
Now I will see if I can’t find a pounce wheel here, too.
Am looking foward to see the finished saddle, I love the colour you dyed it.
