Pink

I needed a simple project to work on today, so I put together a ribbon halter for my Rhian model. This led to a matching blanket.

Pink really isn’t my favorite color, and this pony looks good in practically every other color so why pink?

Because.

I don’t think she approves.

At least I have a Rhian-sized blanket pattern to add to my stash now.

This is a personal piece and will not be for sale. ๐Ÿ™‚

Henry’s Blanket

Last week I put together a blanket to fit my Henry/Fjord model. He also ended up getting a matching halter because, even though it’s been 2 years already, (yikes) I haven’t forgotten about the “halters for everyone!” project. I’m just… super slow.

Anyway.

I tried several new things with this blanket, mainly the thickness of the binding and lack of top stitching.

The straps are a new style for me too, along with the keepers in the front. Little details can make such a huge difference I think…

Once upon a time I started a western show halter…

… then completely forgot about it. I found this buried in the chaos of my tack supplies. When did I start working on this?? Why did I abandon it?

Well, after sitting forgotten for who knows how many years, it’s finished now.

Now it can live happily ever after with Zippo. ๐Ÿ˜›

For fun, I thought I would dig out my first attempt at a western show halter (made in 2009) and compare it to this one.

Two things I remember struggling with were tongue buckles and skiving lace. Both have gotten a lot easier to do over the years, and that’s encouraging!
