The bulk of my reference photos exist in a folder on my hard drive. That folder is divided into sub-folders, which are further divided into sub-sub folders. It’s an ever-growing collection of pictures and information that would leave me pretty upset if something were to happen to it. (Back up your stuff people. Seriously.)
I’m always on the lookout for good reference books, however. I came across this one and wanted to share some of it with you all…
Most of the “tack” books I own focus on modern English (and some Western) tack. This one seems to cover bits and pieces of everything, from really early saddles and how they evolved over the years…
There’s also a bit about racing saddles, polo saddles, sidesaddles, bronc saddles, and all sorts of bridles, girths, boots… like I said, a mix of everything! What won me over was the section on Harness…
I think it was first published in 1981 so some information and styles are probably outdated. Still, if you’re interested in how different saddles developed through the years and whatnot, it’s an interesting read.
The best part though? There are sellers on Amazon selling this book for .50 cents. 😉
Anyone have any recommendations for other books? Like I said, I’m always on the lookout for more!
I have this book too!
