Candy Cane Blankets

A couple years ago my Grandma sent me home with a bunch of sewing supplies. It was mostly thread, but there were some vintage trims and bias tapes too. These two I think are the oldest… I’m not sure of the date but when was the last time you could buy bias tape for ten cents??

I loved the striped one and thought it would look cute on some Christmas blankets. Luckily I had another yard or so loose… I couldn’t bring myself to open the package. 😅

It was just enough for two pony sized blankets.

I’m happy I was able to put it to use after all these years. 🎄

  1. Oh my goodness! SO CUTE! I love them. You should totally make these to sell, they’d go like hot-cakes!

  2. AMAZING!!! I recently made some Christmas blankets and lead ropes myself (thanks to your tutorials 😉)
And they look pretty good… still working on it though.

    You are my role model!!

  3. I always peruse the sewing paraphernalia at garage sales and Goodwill. I ALWAYS pick up 1/4 inch bias tape when I can find it. Nice job!

  4. Adorable! Also Nichelle, you inspired me to finally order from Rio Rondo! I’m so excited for the package to arrive! 🤗

  5. Absolutely darling! I inherited some bias tape from my mother and it took my a while, but I finally found the date on the back. It was super tiny and with some other information. Hers was from 1983; your packaging looks older than that but maybe?
