Long time no blog? Now that I’m home I’m trying to get back in the swing of things. My new job has been going really well, and I’ve been working on several different hobby projects on my days off.
One of those projects was a set of blankets.
The blue one is easily my favorite. It’s got a nice curve down the back thanks to the fabric it was made from. (thin flannel)
The other two are a lot more “boxy” looking.
And while this isn’t a big problem it’s still something that bugs me, so I’ve been trying to figure out how to make a more fitted pattern. Aside from that, I’m pretty pleased with them and am eager to make some more. I have other ideas and some in-progress pieces already, but they will just have to wait for now. 🙂
Love them, do you sell them and how much:)
Currently I’m not advertising them for sale, but if there is a serious interest feel free to contact me. I’d be happy to work something out.
Wow! They are awesome 🙂 just like the real thing ^_^ I have an almost identical blue one for my horse! Haha. I make a lot of rugs, and the hardware is so expensive to import and everything, so I do cheap ones with 2 jump rings to loop ribbon through and back on itself? All the same they look great! I don’t know how you figured to get buckles on o.o wow. Where do you get all your hardware or do you make it? You should be super proud! ^_^
Thanks! I made the hardware from wire, then hammered it flat. 🙂
Wow! Those look super good!
Thanks! 😀
ooh they turned out well 🙂
I really, REALLY want that blue one! How much would it cost?
This particular one isn’t for sale, sorry!
LOOOOVEEELLLYYY rugs! That blue one really does look comfy! 😀
If you want to give them a more fitted look, cut two halves with the curve of the horses back and sew them together so it is joined along the horses spine like a real cover, mum used to work at a place where they made horse covers so I’ve seen the real process and often thought it would scale down nicely 🙂
The hooks are so amazing, just a perfect touch to a perfect blanket! ❤
May I ask, where do you find the tiny clips and surcingles (hook and catch just in case I’ve got the name wrong) ? I’m looking to make my own rugs
The hardware for these was made from wire that I hammered flat. I’ve also purchased photo-etched hardware from Solstice Sky Studio: https://www.facebook.com/SolsticeSkyStudio
Saw this was posted 5 years ago, but hopefully I can still find you. I have several (4) cast iron horses and love the blankets you made. Do you continue to make them, are any available?
Hey! I am still making blankets. 🙂 I don’t have any currently available, but when I do I post a notice here on this blog, as well as on my Facebook and Instagram pages under “Desktop Stables”
Thanks for the interest!
Wow those look amazing I have started to hand sew blankets for schleich models but they are not nearly as good as that
It just takes practice, you can do it! 🙂
