Steady Progress

School is starting up again next week. While I don’t expect my schedule to be packed, I’m going to have a lot less time to goof off and/or work on model stuff. This is one reason why I’m making myself get lots of work done on my embroidered costume.

I’ve got other reasons too, but that may be for another post…

Anyway, progress is well, progress, and the costume is in that state where it’s starting to look like a costume…

But it is in a dozen pieces, all of which need further adjusting and fixing and so on.

I am really pleased with how the embroidery turned out:

And the seat is decent, but I’m afraid I need to work my pattern a bit more. :/

I’m toying with the idea of putting it up for sale once it’s complete, but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to let go of it, haha. I hope I will be able to get some feedback on the finished piece but eh, that’s hit or miss sometimes. We’ll see. Tomorrow’s tasks: shark’s teeth and more tassels. I hope I have enough floss…!

    1. Thank you for the compliment, but like I said before, I’m not comfortable writing up a full tutorial. Most of what I do is made up on the spot or was learned through other hobbyist’s methods.
My best advice is to start gathering lots of reference photos and try to mimic what you see. That’s how I started and is what I still do today. 🙂

    1. Are you looking for a specific type of braid? The majority of these pieces are three-strand braids sewn together, or two pieces twisted together.
