Five days into the new year, and I’m posting this now? Well! This little blog is off to a fantastic start! But I suppose a few days late is better then never… right?
2011! A new year… a new beginning? It certainly feels that way. 2010 was a challenging year for me, and when it came to a close I found myself reflecting on it and doing quite a bit of painful soul searching. Where has the year gone and what did I accomplish during that time? And what can I do THIS year to avoid a repeat of last year?
Hobby wise, I’ve definitely tried to be more active in the model horse community. I’m mostly a lurker so I can’t say I accomplished that! But I did participate in 2 of Blab’s SM swaps, along with Secret Santa and of course, the monthly Pay-it-Forward, or “PIFs.”
Last year I resolved to get more shelving and to make more tack… like I resolve to do every year. 🙂 Well, I did get better shelving:
As for tack? I made 3 braided arabian halters and a halter/collar set:
A western saddle:
And halters. Lots of halters. Here’s my most recent halter order:
Just for the heck of it, here are the halters I’ve made for my own herd. Several were made this year, others, years ago. Some need updating badly… and I still have a bunch more to make if all the ponies get one:
I also built a barn. Which… still isn’t completely finished but it’s getting there:
And, thanks to the SM swaps, completed 2 custom horses and started on a third. 🙂 I got to spend some time with REAL horses, and was able to add a few new ponies to my ever-growing collection, as well as sell off some of those that really needed new homes.
It’s not much compared to some, but it’s something.
As for 2011? I want to make more tack, as always, and finish the projects I’ve started. I still have some horses to sell off or PIF, and I definately want to continue selling halters and such. I’d like to post more often on this blog too, but who knows how that will go… 😉
Here’s hoping for a good year!
Amazing! I don’t know how you do it!
I already love the barn very much, it will be great when it is done. The tack you make is also very neat.
I loved the posts about building the barn- it’s so awesome! Keep up the good work.
