You get what you pay for.

Let me introduce you the the watercolor that has cleverly disguised itself as acrylic paint!

Yeah. This stuff has so much water in it that it has the consistency of watercolors, which is very frustrating. But a lesson had to be learned here… you honestly do get what you pay for. Never again, Jo-Ann!

I bought this color for the outside of my barn. After a couple coats, this is what it looked like:

Ain’t that purdy? GAH! I ended up mixing my own shade out of other paints I already owned, and was able to cover the mess quite nicely.

It’s a bit too dark now, but much closer to what I was going for. Now I’m working on the inside and front, covering the primer with more white paint to make things look more even. The process is slow but it’s rather relaxing too. (this pic is before I started painting with the white…. updated pics will come later. :D)

Progress is slow…

… and I have a very short attention span. It’s ridiculous how many projects I’ve got “in the works” right now. I can never focus on one thing at once. People who can are amazing.

My little brothers are completely fascinated with the cardboard barn I’m building. The youngest especially… then again, he pretty much idolizes me so anything I make is amazing to him, and more often then not, he’ll come up to my room with his own things he’s made, whether it’s for his GI Joes or something else. It’s rather sweet.

They’ve liked watching me put this barn together, asking me horsey-related questions that I’m happy to answer, even if they don’t understand or care about what I’m talking about. With my sister away in school, I don’t have anyone I can ramble about my horses with… honestly I don’t think anyone really gets it. I don’t get it either, sometimes, haha.

But yeah. It’s nice to have two goofy little brothers to talk to and show off my stuff to, even if it’s not perfect and pretty and well put together like some of the things I see other hobbyists come up with. They think it’s brilliant and they remind me, just by their curiosity, that this is all for fun.

And there’s certainly nothing wrong with that!

Progress Report

It’s assembled and waiting for a few extra touches, then layers of primer:

Terribly exciting, isn’t it? 😛 The cat has already punched the door out of it’s slot. Yes, punched. She was in one of those crazy cat moods. >_< So that will have to be repaired… but I think it would be best to leave it off until the whole thing’s primered…

Here’s the roof:

Also, I added a few new things to click on here recently. (in case you haven’t noticed, wheee!!!!)  I finally figured out how to add links to the side of my blog, which I’ve updated with some of my favorite model-horse related sites. Also added a page up top for my herd, which is currently under construction. Perhaps having that there will motivate me to get those collection pictures I’ve been meaning to get for so long now!
