2023 in Review

Another year has come and gone! I love how the new year feels like a fresh start.

In 2023, I think I started off strong, but as the year went on my interest faded. When I was younger I seemed to rotate between my various hobbies, and I’m beginning to see that happening again. I don’t think it’s a bad thing. There was a point where I had lost interest in almost everything (apart from the hobby, which I had thrown myself into) so it’s been nice to have these interests re-kindled. I’m in a much better place spiritually and emotionally than I was a few years ago. Physically is questionable… why does everything hurt and why am I tired all of the time?! 😄

This year I didn’t make very much tack, but I am pleased with the pieces I did complete.

This year Breyer featured me on their “Artist’s Sketch” page in Just About Horses!

I’m still slowly downsizing and will probably continue to do that as the year goes on.

This summer was great. There was hiking and trips to the lake and real horses too:

And I quietly attended BreyerFest virtually again. I wasn’t up to creating much of anything, but I enjoyed the video content and was tempted by all the models.

2023 was a good year and I feel extremely blessed. But at the same time, it was a hard and upsetting year. I’m heartbroken over all that’s happened in Israel since October. I’m horrified at the amount of antisemitism going on in the world. I know some of my readers are Jewish. I hope you’re doing ok. 💙🤍
Just trying to pay attention to all that’s going on here in the US and globally is completely overwhelming. I don’t have the emotional capacity for it but at the same time don’t want to stick my head in the sand. I’ve been trying to find a balance. Will 2024 be better? Honestly, I don’t know.
My hope is in Jesus, and I know I can trust Him through it all.

Still, I’m grateful for this hobby, and am hoping to attempt to create more this year as time allows. I don’t want to set any goals exactly, but I do have a few ideas. We’ll see how that goes. At the very least, I would like to continue to keep blogging! If you’ve stuck with me this year thank you… I know my posting hasn’t been as frequent as years past.

See you next year! 🎉

  1. Happy New Year! I was wondering why I’m so tried and achy all the time too.. Hormones. Now I know why older women can be so grumpy sometimes!! 😂 🐎

  2. The bridle with the flowers 👌🏼 all your tack is amazing! I hope I can crest like you in the future all I’ve done is make a crappy rope halter for my bouncer mold and fail at making one for my Lady Phase.

    Love you and keep going!
