Highlander

Here are some in-hand photos of Highlander, this year’s Holiday Horse:

This model was sent to me by Breyer this year. I didn’t expect it but it was a welcome surprise! Thanks, Breyer. ❤

Like previous years, Breyer had me help put together the costume prototype. The design belongs to Breyer – what I did was translate their concept art into a 3D piece. This brings many challenges and there’s a lot of back and forth until it’s approved.

Even then, some things are still changed later on in production.

But I’m happy with how it came together in the end.

Here’s how he looks without the costume. This model does has some staining from the black fabric… I kind of expected that. But I keep my holiday horses in costume year-round, so it’s not an issue to me. It’s something to keep an eye on though.

His coat is metallic and shimmery. I tried to capture it in photos and I’m hoping it comes through a little!

I really love this sculpt and am glad he was released as a Holiday Horse. I hope others like him too!

  1. Wow! The costume is AMAZING! You did a really good job on it 🙂 It’s nice that Breyer sent him to you, since it lets you see how he turned out
