New Space, New Blanket

No, I haven’t abandoned my blog. 🙃

I moved to a new place at the end of January. It was quick and unexpected, and for several weeks things were kind of crazy as I got settled. I’m so grateful though. I’ve been trying to find a place of my own for years. Somehow, everything finally lined up and worked out.

It’s been a daydream of mine to have a dedicated hobby space, and now I have one! I had convinced myself that it just wasn’t realistic but here we are. ❤

Since taking these photos, I’ve brought up more of my collection/hobby stuff from my parent’s, so it’s looking a lot more chaotic. I didn’t realize just how much hobby and craft stuff I had accumulated until I had to move it. 😅 I’m sure I’ll be rearranging and organizing things later on, but for now, this works.

With everything I’ve had going on, I haven’t had much time for personal hobby projects. I’ve been slowly piecing together a blanket for last year’s Celebration horse, Reggie, as a way to get back into the swing of things. Today I finally finished it up.

It’s been ages since I’ve sewn a blanket for my own collection, and this was one I wanted to work on since BreyerFest.

Benelli is next (maybe, haha) but I haven’t decided on what to do for his.

So yeah, just a quick update on what’s been going on with me. I haven’t been super active in the hobby lately, (aside from lurking on Instagram and my favorite blogs…) but I’ve been doing much, much better. ❤

  1. Yay!! I Love seeing other artist’s studios, and yours is wonderful. I’m jealous of the light box; I don’t have space for that. I have to put up a cloth backdrop and take it down again.

  2. Hi Nichelle 🙂 Good to see you back online! I am following you and look forward to seeing what you’re up to. Congrats on getting your own place! Very exciting! I’ve been married for many years, and we’re are about to move out of state after being in a “transition apartment” for a year longer than intended (thank you covid!), the townhouse we’ll be renting is slightly smaller, but I’m DETERMINED to get my models out onto shelves and out of the bins they’ve been in for years (our house was small and I never could get my models out much there either). Enjoy your newfound freedom, even if you have to rotate your beauties around 😉

    1. Thank you! I hope you’ll be able to get your models out of their bins. It’s tough to have them in storage for so long!

  3. So glad you are back! Your blanket looks ✨fabulous✨ on Reggie! For Benelli you should do a purple blanket that kinda looks like a Breyer weather-beeta!

  4. Glad to see you posting again.
Congratulations on your new home! Don’t be surprised when it takes you many re-arrangements to get the right fit for your models, supplies and other items. Having your own place is great.

  5. Great news, congratulations on your very own place! That blanket is beautiful ❤️ I can’t wait to see the one you make for Benelli!

  6. How fun to see your horses and your sewing machine! Congratulations on your new home and having your own space for your hobbies.
