Christmas in… September?

In July, Breyer sent me a copy of this year’s Holiday Horse, Apres Ski.

Apart from watching via social media, I didn’t participate much in BreyerFest this year. Having this guy unexpectedly show up was a nice surprise over the weekend.
And now it’s September, and I’ve just gotten decent photos of him. 🙄

Breyer had me work on the prototype for his costume. It went through several different variations, but I think he turned out really nice in the end.

I’m glad Big Ben was used this year! To me, he’s one of those iconic Breyer models that I’d always wanted in my collection, but could never decide on which one I liked best. (Wish on a Star, Brahms and Cryptic are some favorites)

I also love it when Breyer uses regular horse colors for their Holiday line. Metallics and shimmery horses are fine for Christmas and all, but it’s nice to have horses that can also be used for other things. 🙂

The chestnuts on mine were missing, so I broke out the paint and filled those in. While I was at it, I touched up some eartip rubs and painted his shoes. It bothers me when Breyers have sculpted shoes but they aren’t painted. 😄

It’s a little change, but I like it!

Thanks again Breyer, for allowing me to be a part of his creation and sending a copy to me! ❤

  1. Interesting, he’s not the greatest… my favorite was last years, but I never had the chance to get him. 😞 I already have Brahms tho, so this guy might make a good start to a conga.

  2. Congrats and neato on the design! I love the skis and furs! I too love a “working” Christmas costume horse, which is why my all time fav is Jewel (2010) the galloping buckskin Show Jumper. It’s such a relief not to have 4 stockings.
