It’s been a good mail week.
Recently, Breyer had a “warehouse finds” sale, featuring re-issues of older models. I was really surprised to see Susecion and Lefire with the rest of the group.
I probably shouldn’t be buying new horses right now, but I could not resist them – re-issue or not – for the price Breyer was asking. These sets, for reasons I don’t exactly know, often go for $90-100+ on ebay.
Apparently others felt the same way – the pair was completely sold out in less than 48 hours.
I’m usually not one to buy horses spur-of-the-moment, and I rarely jump on these sorts of sales, but this pair..! I’ve wanted to add them to my collection for years!
And being in the right place at the right time for once? Yay!
Another new face joined the herd as well, but this one was completely unexpected.
Midnight Tango was “pif’ed” to me (stands for Pay-it-Forward… it’s a Blab thing, hehe) from a very generous Blabber. I’ve been researching info on miniature horses… I’m thinking that another harness attempt is in the near future?
One thing is for sure: all three have a permanent spot in the herd!
Lucky you! Suscesion and Le Fire are adorable! Its such a sweet set and one I have always liked as well, such a shame Breyer’s International shipping is so much or I may have got one too haha. Midnight Tango is lovely too, he’d be too cute in a harness set up 🙂 That mold is one I need to get to CM as a portrait of my wee Mini mare, who goes in harness haha
I think most companies would really benefit if they would keep 100 or so of some of their really popular models (this goes for non horse companies too), and then sell them 5 – 10 years later. They could sell the horses for at least $60 each.
It would also make collectors happy! 🙂
I know Breyer has done this with molds that are no longer available, like Alborozo and the Proud Arab Mare. They’ve shown up as auction pieces or limited runs for special events. 🙂
Congratulations on getting the Susecion & Lefire!
Buy the time I got around to reading the e-mail from Breyer, they were all sold out. (Serves me right for being a slacker! hahaha)
Way to go on all your new herd additions! : )
Woo Hoo! Horses!!!!!!!! I love my mare and foal from breyerfest last year. I had to fight to get those horses ;D
