December, where did you go?

I find it hard to believe that Christmas is this Thursday. Didn’t December just start? I had all these ideas and plans for projects this month and now it’s suddenly the 21st.

I’ve been working late hours and am feeling a bit “Scrooge-ish” this year, so that’s mostly the reason why it’s been pretty quiet around here. Still. Ugh.

I did manage to sew a couple more blankets for my models though.

ChristmasBlankets01

They’re like ugly Christmas sweaters for horses! Ha! I can’t tell if they’re cute or tacky. (or both) But they did provide an opportunity to work out a better fitting pattern…

ChristmasBlankets05… give a go at lining them,

ChristmasBlankets04… and experiment with machine stitching,

ChristmasBlankets03…vs. hand stitching.

I don’t think my hand stitching is too awful, but it hurts after a while. Sewing by machine looks better, but more often than not I spend more time fighting with the machine than actually sewing. (or trying to undo mistakes, which is a lot easier to do when you’re sewing by hand, I’ve found)

ChristmasBlankets06They’re not perfect but I’m pretty happy with them. Some more things need refining and I need to make altered patterns for different-sized horses, and once I get that figured out I’d like to try listing some for sale.

I’ve been toying with the idea of opening up an Etsy shop for my little things (like halters, pads, blankets, etc) so any feedback on that idea would be greatly appreciated.

Also! I’ve passed the 100,000 mark on this blog! I would love to do some sort of giveaway as a way to say thank you to all who read this blog… this year really has been the best for this little page on the internet so far! But that may have to wait till the new year, once the late-night work shifts and bah-humbugs end, haha.

Have a great week everyone. 🙂

    1. Thanks! The fabric was a secret santa gift… it’s so cute. 😀 I believe it was found at Joann fabrics, probably in a quilting bundle of sorts. 🙂

  1. These blankets look awesome! I love the tweaked pattern (and the fabric is brilliant XD).
An etsy shop is a great idea, I think C:

  2. I’ve bought many halters from you, both on ebay and through your website and I love them!. An etsy site would be amazing-and I can’t wait for your blankets!
